Winter boots should fit differently than your everyday sneakers — here's what to know before you order.
General fit rules
- Leave room for thick socks. If you'll be wearing heavy wool or thermal socks, consider sizing up half a size from your regular shoe size.
- You should be able to wiggle your toes freely. A too-tight fit restricts circulation, which actually makes your feet colder, not warmer.
- Heel should feel locked in, not loose. Some heel slip is normal when breaking in a boot, but excessive slip can cause blisters over a full day of wear.
Size chart

How to measure your foot at home
- Place a piece of paper on a hard floor against a wall
- Stand on it with your heel against the wall
- Mark the tip of your longest toe
- Measure the distance in cm or inches and match it to the chart above
Slip-on vs. laced fit differences
If you're choosing between a laced boot and a slip-on style, keep in mind slip-on boots rely more on structured panels and heel counters (rather than laces) to secure fit — so pay close attention to the specific fit notes on each product page, since slip-on sizing can run slightly differently than laced styles.
